This mod adds in a ton of new biomes and sub-biomes into Minecraft. They’re loosely based on the existing biomes, and each has its own use in survival, and they’re all good for building in one way or another.
The Alpine biome sort of looks like a really cold mountain. It has no grass/dirt blocks, only stone and a very top layer of snow. It would make for a nice mountain fortress if you ask me.
The Blossom Wood is a forest full of cherry trees with dark trunks and pink leaves. It’s one of my personal favorites within the mod.
The Desert Archipelago, apart from having one of the weirdest names I’ve heard from a mod lately, is a group of desert islands with a few dead bushes and cacti on it.
The Ephemeral Lake is another one with a confusing name. Someone tell geologists to make their names easier to spell and pronounce. But, it’s a lake with sandy shores and dead trees/bushes on the shores. Looks like someone thought it’d be funny to cut the tops off of the trees and place them elsewhere, to be honest.
Another of my favorites is the Low Hills biome. I love flat lands, and this is as flat as it gets without being superflat.
Woo swamps! The Mangroves are similar to swamps, but much brighter.
The Prairie has to be one of the prettiest biomes this mod adds in. The grass is golden-yellow. Other than that it doesn’t really have much going for it. Not the best starting biome, either.
The Rainforest is an amazing biome. It looks like the maker took the thing I hated most about even seeing a jungle and took it out. There’s no undergrowth, it has more tall jungle trees, and has oak trees in place of the bushes at the floor of a jungle.
And my least favourite, which takes the most annoying part of a jungle and makes it its own biome. I guess each win is not without loss.
Now, when you install this mod, you have to select the better biomes world type, which spawns all of the above biomes and a lot more. Below is the only new biome that spawns with the other world type, which is called Fantasy Biomes. It’s called the Yggdrasil Forest. It’s an extremely dense forest dotted with massive Yggdrasil trees made of birch wood. Some can be as forty blocks high!

- The only biome mod I’ve found that spawns villages in the new biomes

- I have yet to see a vanilla biome, but some people might like that.
