The High Resolution texture packs may not be a smart idea for players with computers that are not designed for a high use of FPS.
The new textures have been designed to be darker, spookier and more medieval. The artist has succeeded if these aspects of the texture pack were his original goal. If you have decided to use the highest resolution version of the texture pack, and also try to load a huge and very detailed, custom map. You may find out that your computer cannot exactly handle such extreme conditions. This may result in your game crashing, or significant lag. It is recommended that you download the lowest resolution texture pack if you have decided to get the highest resolution pack, also. Another smart thing to do, would be to download all resolution texture packs, this way if you find that one texture pack version makes you lag, or maybe is too detailed, or the opposite, you can simply switch between versions at will.
The way you use this texture pack is completely up to you. However it is required that you use mcpatcher, or the optifine mod.
